Welcome to the NextPharma Newsletter
It was a pleasure to meet so many of you at our stand at Pharmapack in Paris last week and to have to opportunity to discuss your outsourcing needs in detail. To those of you who couldn't attend here are some of the highlights from our exhibition this year!
We have doubled our Cephalosporin packaging capacity to 18 million blisters per year at our Göttingen site in Germany - with the installation of a second flexible Alu/Alu blister-line which can also produce Alu/PVC/PVDC-blisters. This machine provides currently nine different blister Alu/Alu and Alu/PVC blisters sizes and 54 different blister formats, it also benefits from having the newest control units and a data matrix station for printing and saving pack serial numbers.
Our new partnership with Aseptic Technologies now allows us to offer our clients the benefits of closed vial technology. We have significantly expanded our Clinical Trials Manufacturing, Labeling and Packaging facility in Göttingen, Germany and our recently completed Sterile Product Development Center in Braine-l’Alleud, Belgium now enables us to offer specialist asceptic packaging and labelling to our clients for both Cytotoxic and non-Cytotoxic clinical trials’ materials.

'Closed Vial' Technology
NextPharma has entered into a partnership agreement with Aseptic Technologies to manufacture sterile products using a new 'closed vial' technology. Under this agreement NextPharma will subcontract the filling of vials to Aseptic Technologies for those NextPharma customers wishing to access this new technology - which involves the aseptic filling of vials, based on a completely closed system and using pre-sterilised plastic vials. NextPharma will continue to provide other services, including overall project management, directly to customers.
The Crystal® Closed Vial Technology consists of a sterile closed plastic vial – which is sterilised by gamma irradiation and filled with a needle that pierces the stopper for liquid delivery and re-sealed by a laser shot to restore closure integrity.
The key advantages of this revolutionary system are:
- Increased safety in production, supply chain, for the medical community and the patient.
- Better sterility assurance levels, resistant to breakage and with reduced risk of spillage and leakages.
- Cost effectiveness as a result of the need for reduced production space and simplified cleaning and validation processes.
- Facilitated manipulation by end users in the medical community.
